Hi Guys,

Just wanted to introduce myself, my name is Tom Lau, and I’m from Sheffield! I have just about sold my BMW 3.0si Sport Z4 Roadster, and purchased a VW Edition 30 Golf GTi (maybe you recognise it :p)…

The car was born March 2007 and is currently running at Stage 2 with…

Non-Resonated Milltek Cat-Back,
Carbon Speed Air Intake with Pipercross Air Filter,
Forge Diverter Valve,
APS Re-Map,
R32 Brakes Front and Rear with Goodrich Braided Hoses,
Eibach Sportline Lowering Springs with Eibach Anti-Roll Bars Front and Rear,
Up-Rated S3 Front Wishbone Bushes, and
18” BBS CH025 PCD 5x112 8x18 ET51 Wheels in Black with Toyo T1-R’s.

I do have further plans for the car, but my bank manager isn’t allowing me for anything at the moment, so in time the car will have…

Cruise Control, some Tints for the Windows, and an upgrade in sound system (the Z4 had 8speakers and 2 sub’s, so I’d need to upgrade lol)…

I also want to have the car on a Rolling Road to see how much power the car is actually running, so if anyone knows some place close by to myself if you could let me know so I can make my way there ;) (preferably somewhere people know are giving out accurate ISH results)…Unless you try arrange a group event in the new year?!

Depending on the power output I see I may go Stage 2+, after all I’m only short the Downpipe and Hi-Flow Sports Cat, and a Remap!!! I’ve also got interest in a Catch Can and Hi-Pressure Fuel Pump, if anyone could offer any advise as to how much these help or don’t help that would be great!!! Thanks to Hurdy, I’ll be purchasing a DSG Map if I go to Stage 2+  :signLOL:!

Finally, I’m also temped with the TD Pro Race 1.2S (yellow) wheels ;) I’d have to sell the current BBS CH’s to fund them though, any ideas on what there worth?! OR I may just have the lips on the CH's painted in yellow ;)

I’ll post some MORE pictures up soon…

Thanks Guys,
Tom

Good choice of car  :happy2:

IIRC these are rep CH's so won't be worth a huge amount, are you selling them with the tyres?

Well had the car for a few day now!

Just wondering, does the DSG "learn"?

I'm finding the car very sluggish when starting from a stand still, changes happen alot earlier than i'd like, is there anyway I can manage this?!

Sports mode is just silly in the wet hahaha...

If you find D changes up too early and S is a bit to extreme just use the paddles matey, you can change gear when you want then  :happy2:

As for the sluggish start, I know what you mean but I would not say its massively noticeable. I think that is just turbo lag TBH  :happy2:

Yeah I'll be playing about with the paddles, problem is I dont think its the turbo lag that I'm experiencing!!!

Off the line in D if i take it stead, it'll be in 2nd by 2500-3000rpm, if i then decide i want to hammer it, it'll literally sit and wait for 2-3seconds...Also, when setting off, it doesnt seem to want to get going, could well be me going to lightly with the right foot but just doesnt seem right...

That is just because your not use to the DSG yet. It sounds like you are just mashing the pedal so the gearbox cant deal with the torque you are trying to apply, its kind of like a safety feature to protect the clutch.
If i was you i would leave it in D- mode until the car is fully warmed up then just slide it left into M-mode then try giving it some beans you will find a completely different car underneath you.  :happy2:
