Hi all just a few newbie questions
« on: May 08, 2014, 03:33:35 pm »

Hi all hoping to pick up a mk5 golf gti tomorrow after the sale of my mk6 fiesta st.

I've found a decent spec'd car and I received a text from him saying there's now a problem with the car and it's lost boost.
The car is completely standard and I've read the guide on the pcv valve and dv.

Should I still take a look at the car as I'm 3 hours away from him or should I stay clear?

He's offered to knock some money off to get it sorted but can I still drive it home (steadily)

Welcome mate, best thing to do is take a mechanic friend with you to check the engine over? As it could be something so simple for example boost hose come loose? Good luck anyways. :happy2:

Tell him those two items are most likely the fault - tell him to have them changed and report back - shouldn't be much more than £120 parts and labour.

Have him send you a vehicle scan with VCDS to show the faults are clear.

As for going to see it and part with your money to buy a faulty item, I wouldn't go there!
