Marketing calls on the phone.
« on: May 09, 2014, 10:57:52 am »
Just had a missed call from a number in London on the business line. Googled it and it's an accident claims company.

Then 5 minutes later another call comes in on the private line (international, out of area) so I answers it..

Me: "Hello...."

Them (Silence for about 10 seconds... then) "Hello?"

Me: "Hello!"

"Good morning sir. How are you today?"

"I'm fine thanks. Have you got half an hour to spare because I'm really gonna waste your f*cking time here!"

"Shut up you barstewards!" And he put the phone down.   :jumping:

Now maybe there's nothing unusual or interesting in that as it stands, but we've had no harassment calls for about 3 years as we're registered with the Telephone Preference Service and when they did manage to get through to me I let them know in no uncertain terms that their call isn't wlecome. However, 2 days ago we mover phone provider from BT to Plusnet.

Looks like I'll have to redo the TPS registration.

They just called back on the business line so I spoke to them and politely explained that they must be mistaken about any accident I'd had.   :innocent:

These drive me nuts to the point I don't bother answering my phone any more. If it's that important, they can leave me a message.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Yup same here, sick of the Accident calls or PPI calls, surprising how many "Missed Calls" dont leave a message, My Mantra is "No message, No callback!".u Back

Thinking of changing my answerphone message to "If your a friend or relative leave a message and I will call you back, if your selling something or the call is about PPI do NOT leave a message, crawl back under your rock and dont call me again!"

I just tell them that I'm insured on a business policy and it could have been anyone of our 40 drivers but wasn't me, normally stumps them

I have unplugged my home phone now. Just use the line for broadband!!

Don't answer calls to my mobile unless I know the number.

Depends on how I'm feeling at the time but they normally get hit with
"What are you wearing"
"Describe the flavour of banana as a colour, but not yellow"
"You you shout BITE MY ARSE at the top of your voice I'll buy what ever you're selling" so far I've had three people do this.
"Thank god you phoned, I've been expecting your call"

Favourite of mine is to keep them talking as long as I can, and every couple of minutes shout "Two white, one brown!" Then start going into greater detail by saying "Just put one brown one in, then two white ones." Finally when I've had enough I say "Sorry I've gotta go I'm afraid. The wife's trying to make me a coffee and she's having trouble with the recipe."
