Not a fan of the red mist at all as it's hard work for a QD! You may be ok with a silver car but you have to ensure you remove any excess as dust/salt etc will stick to it! I ended up with a car covered in salt earlier in the year after using this stuff the day before.

Dammit and I just bought this stuff. Needed a few things and bought this on a whim. Was going to try it this weekend along with the snowfoam I just bought.

For a cheap shampoo that performs well in my opinion i would try Meg's Shampoo+ leaves a nice finish and the price for the amount you get .
The Dodo Juice Red mist I find to be great as well I use it all the time after a wash on the car.
Autoglym have a new detailer out at the moment which sells very well in both the 500ml and trade size called rapid detailer( see my Gb thread) If anyones interested in CG's detailers and anything else from them give me a shout as I am hopefully going to get some of there stuff in this week.

I seem to go bottles and bottles of QD. Trade size sounds a good idea!

The best QD I've ever used was Sonus Canauba Spritz QD

But its not cheap @ £10.95 and the bottle is pretty small. The finish after some P21s/R222 though is pretty faultless.

Talking to the Autoperfection guys at ED38 they weren't overly impressed either!

I basically spray and wipe straight away and on small patches at a time.

Red mist and red mist tropical iirc. Not the biggest user of dodo stuff I must admit though.

Yep, standard red mist and Tropical! 

I think the smell is the only difference!

Apparently with the Tropical, you can leave it on a bit longer to 'haze' before buffing whereas with Red Mist you have to spray and wipe almost simultaneously!

I am sure there is something to do with the amount of time you can leave the spray on the paintwork the one i use if you leave to long you get a water type mark that is harder to work in with the mf.
The Dodo stuff is good but its not always instructed very well.

That's how I used mine Stealth. Hopefully mine was just a bad batch and yours will be ok!

We'll see how the weekend fares. I was hoping to use the extra 'hour' gained by clocks going back this weekend to spend more time on giving the car a scrub. If I can get a coupla decent layers of Collinite (think I prefer it over supernatural), car will be sorted for winter.

I have been using red mist since the summer and it gives great results on my candy easily the shiniest by far. But it takes ages to buff off to a decent standard whether you do it straight away or leave it.
For me this makes it practically useless as the clue is in the name. 
It works well on glass though and gives good beading.

On say the bonnet, how much buffing would be involved? More than say thirty seconds' worth?

I did mine earlier and its one spray couple of wipes and its onto another bit, small sprays you dont need much.
