What is the maximum MAF reading?
« on: May 12, 2014, 04:14:28 pm »
I have been doing logs for some time on my car and the highest MAF reading I get through the G70 sensor is 364.08g/s and it will not go any higher.

As this looks to be a limitation of the sensor, does it mean it will affect correct air/fuel ratio higher up the rev range?

The answer to this is YES.

364.08g/s is the highest reading that the MAF sensor can read on the TFSi - this is true of the MKV Golf too.

This doesn't mean that this is the power limit, it just means above this the ECU adapts.

MAFless mapping is a possible option .

Can you use the MAP sensor for mapping?

I remember the Civic Type-R tuners used the MAP sensor for mapping for any forced induction tuning as the OEM MAF wasnt up to the job once you add boost

I'm pretty sure you can tune off the MAP, I've seen it done on diesels loads.

I didn't know about the MAF limit, random! You could always scale the MAF differently too could you?

Yup I had a Mafless code on my TDI.
It's not ideal, you'd want it done on MAF if possible. MAP has it's own benefits and drawbags normally extra lag. as it fuels based on boost which obviously takes longer to build if there's not as much fuel available..

My best mate has got a 330D on a MAF'less tune and it drives awesome, running 400bhp 700lb/ft.

Already on a larger MAF housing and fuelling already adjusted. 364g/s is actually around 400g/s on mine and still maxed out!.   :rolleye:
