Front number plate ideas
« on: October 19, 2009, 09:14:53 pm »
I'm wanting to change the front plate on my tornado red gti and am looking for ideas of what other people have done?  How simple is it to modify the plate holder (or remove it and make good the front)?

Any pics?

cheers

A few peeps have had the holder removed, the grille surround smoothed (or wrapped say in carbon fibre) and use a stick-on plate, which goes for a better look.

Have a look at some of the members' cars threads.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

As you can see from mine, I wanted the continuation of the black of the grill and onto the bonnet to be there, so i put a sticker numberplate underneath the nearside headlight.

I readily admit that it doesn't look ideal (although I have recently re-positioned it, and in real life it actually doesn't look that bad).

Yes, it is illegal...but I've been running it for a little short of a year now and have had no issues whatsoever!

Well, Evo X's and some Alfa's have their numberplate in that position without issues but I guess that their actual plates are legal in material spec.

I like your sticker plate - It's very reminiscent of some classic performance cars.
