Cam Belt change in Nottingham
« on: May 16, 2014, 08:07:41 am »
I need to get the cam belt on an Edition 30 changed in the Nottingham area but the 3 places (stealer, local specialist and small independent garage I normally use) I have called all want around £500.

Is this normal? It seems high to me.

You should be looking at around £350ish for cam belt and water pump change from an independent.

I'm heading down to AKS tuning in Bedford (from Nottingham). The only place I'd take mine really. £375 all in iirc

I've been quoted £299 for cam belt and water pump change at my local VW.

That's a better price but its 1hr 45 mins from mine so bit of a trek for me.

It's Peter Cooper, their stated price is £399 (I think?) but they told me they would happily do it for £299 for most people if they asked as they'd still be making profit lol. I do use them for all my servicing though so I guess being a good/ regular customer would help too. :happy2:

Try Geoff Bloor Garages near to the forest football ground. He has done loads of work on all my cars and what he doesn't know about car tuning isn't worth knowing. He specialises in tuning turbo cars and has a sun rolling road. I will be visiting him again soon to see what my car is putting out.

Nice one! Just called and it is £360 plus VAT which is still expensive but cheaper than the rest I had called. Also round the corner from me so can walk back.
