Do I see copper grease on your poly bushes?  If so, why?

Poly bushes should NEVER use a copper based grease - only lithium based grease with MDS additives.  Otherwise the copper particles will just wear away both the actual poly bush, AND the housing which it sits in!  Copper grease is nasty sh!t at the best of times - and when use wrongly is just plain stoooopid.

Why was the Whiteline kit supplied with MDS grease?

I have a feeling RR just smiled and nodded when they were talking about such things!

Slightly OT but what do you think about copperslip grease on door hinges? Had it put on my old fezza but my uncle said I should wipe it off straight away!

WTF

WTF

How hot do your door hinges get?  :surprised: :surprised:

Grease should NEVER be used in an application where it can't get melted (with a few very limited, and highly specialised examples - such as a fifth wheel).  ONLY oil should be used on door hinges, otherwise, if grease is used, it will just attract grit and other road sh!t, and then form a grinding paste, rather than a lubricant.  Greases should only be used in an 'enclosed' space, and where heat will cause it to melt.  Either use some Mobil 1 to oil your hinges (because that is probably about all it is good for), or purchase a proper genuine VW oil spray (which is the mutts nuts, and also smells like 'old skool' oil  :ashamed:).

And on the same theme, if any VAG stealer sprays on their shyte 'white grease' onto hinges, get them to wipe it off ASAP.  It is NOT approved by VW for lubricating hinges!

Lecture over, I need a lie down!

Obviously upset you there TT!

The copperslip grease was put on the door hinges of the fezza by a mechanic. Like I said, my uncle - also a mechanic - told me to wipe it off. He was about as angry as you. So I cleaned it off there and then.

It's okay you can calm down now!

LOL!

OK, found the part number.  Go and buy a tinny of this the next time you pass a stealer - G 000 115 A2 - 'lubricant, oil spray' @ £4.66+vat.  It is seriously good sh!t, and providing you only squirt your own car, a tinny will last 3-4 years!

....Is it copper grease? I dunno - I don't know the differences.

If it's not what you think it should be, TT, and you want to know why? - Give VWR a call and ask - 01908 210088.
