Antifreeze/Coolant
« on: May 18, 2014, 06:04:38 pm »
Guys,

Just need to top up my antifreeze/Coolant. Did a quick search and still a bit confused.

I have used the ready mix halfords before and seemed ok.

Would this is be ok?

Or any other recommendations with links please.

Thanks

VW G12 coolant is what is in it and it's also the best stuff. Pick up a litre from your local dealer would be my advice  :happy2:

G13 coolant additive provides the same exceptional cooling and antifreeze performance as G12++, but is manufactured in an environmentally sustainable way, using glycerin instead of glycol. Glycerin, a bi-product of biodiesel production, is much less harmful to the environment than glycol-based products, which are produced from mineral oil. In comparison with the manufacture of traditional coolant additive, it is estimated that G13 production will produce 11 per cent lower CO2 emissions. So G13 is the coolant you want. :happy2:

That's interesting ! And lot more use than my local stealer when I asked what the difference was, said 'G13 is newer and better .......'
But are they fully interchangeable/ mixable? Or do you need to drain, flush and refill.
Thanks
