Hi, so I got this subwoofer for next to nothing from a friend due to the problem but I'm eager to get it working if not sell it for parts because it's too good to bin. Anyway, it's a JL Audio 12W6 subwoofer fitted into a box with a pioneer amp on top. I don't know much about these other than JL Audio is a decent brand and there's no subwoofers going for under £50 on fleebay. On the foam surround, there is one small pinky-sized hole in the lower right hand quarter of the unit. I've enquired about ordering a kit from the States for £24 posted which will allow me to completely replace the foam with a brand new genuine JL audio one. After asking around at a local audio shop, I was told this is a no-no and there is no way to fix this. He told me that I could try getting the foam off another subwoofer, cut it out to match the size of the hole, and fit it over the current hole. He told me that this way there shouldn't be any issues, apart from it looking crap, with the sound quality due to it being the same material. I'm in a complete dilemma now and was wondering if one you folks could help me, cheers.
(Pictures will be added in a couple of hours when I get a chance, I've only got these ones for now)
