Saving BMW X5 B-Pillar Trims

Hi, I need something that can somehow bring back the shine to the fathers X5 B-pillars. He stupidly used one of those foreigner hand-car washes which used some s*** on the car, leaving the b-pillars in absolute state. There seems to be some sort of rainbow looking colouring on it and it just won't budge. I haven't used anything specialist yet, just the simple usual washing method and it didn't work. Anyone know what I could use to get the crap off? Cheers in advance.
Pictures don't seem to show anything because off the crappy iPhone I'm using but you do get the idea... kind of.
