Drivers side rusty wing??
« on: May 26, 2014, 01:02:32 pm »
Hi guys,
My Mk5 has a slight rust bubble in what seems like a common place, The front drivers side wing at the center of the curve, Its an 05 plate GTTDI.
I read somewhere that VW guarantee there panels for X amount of years, Is this true and has anyone else had there wing replaced under this guarantee?

This is back being covered by 100% goodwill for only the painted wing replacement, I was told this by VW customer care and I am getting my 25% contribution back from when I replaced a wing a few months ago.

Call a VW dealer and get a paint inspection to set the ball rolling.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Thanks for the reply.
Its only the drivers side wing that needs replacing, Its not as if it can be ground back and treated as its a proper crusty patch.
I need to sort the rear engine mountain out then so its back on the road and get onto the phone to them then?

Depends where you live but it might take a week or two to get an appointment. Only they can give you the answer to that though.
I have had four new wings on my two mk5's, not reworked ones.

Do you remember who you spoke to mate at vw customer care? my drivers side wing is bubbling in the same place as lee's so would definitely take the opportunity for a free wing respray/fix

I went via the dealer and contacted CC for a seperate matter, he offered the rebate as I was clearly unhappy with my issue. I doubt anyone applying now will not get 100% (wings only)

I'd not be totally confident on 100% contribution from vw as I've not managed to get them to budge from the 75% I've been offered and mine is in the body shop at the moment

As I wrote above, speak to customer care. I am getting my 25% contribution refunded via a cheque as all wings are again covered under 100% goodwill.
