My MK5 GTI (Bora)

Well not strictly a MK5 or a GTI but it's got a VW badge so it must pass surely?



I'm putting one of these things on the engine so surely that must count....  :laugh:



Loads more in the sig link below but I'll keep this thread updated as I go along  :drinking:

Here's the most recent update I've made:

Update time! Turbo is on, quite an easy install with the Beachbuggy adaptor plate and the fact we managed top pick up a turbo which still has all the stock K04 oil and water lines still connected :D
 

 
You can see the stock K03 and TFSi K04 oil return pipes in situ. Plan is to do something similar to what Prawny did and splice the two together to make a custom pipe which clears the drive shaft.
 

 
The stock K04 oil feed pipe runs to the other side of the turbo so I was thinking of running a custom braided pipe similar to the stock K03. But! Step in Beachbuggy who suggests running a stock Passat  B5.5 K03 oil line (06B 145 771 F), which terminates in the correct position. Though it'll need an adaptor to replace the Banjo connection - Prawn any details on that as you're running the Passat oi line by the looks of it? :)
 

 
The water lines are a lot more straight forward. The inlet mates up perfectly with the banjo on the back of the block and the return just needs trimming to mate up to the plastic Y connector that sits close to the fuel rail (not shown here).
 

 

 

 
So, all in all a pretty easy bolt on as things go.
 
Planning to spray up the alternator tonight then I can can finally finish off the front of the block before bolting on the RMR Inlet Manifold.

Finished the oil return line yesterday. Original plan was add a new section of hose and try to recreate the factory style crimps but after hack sawing the sleeves off I realised the length of pipe on the K03 oil return line was the perfect length and just needed securing on to the K04 oil outlet.

eh voila!



The line itself isn't under pressure and just acts a gravity feed into the sump so all good with this solution.

With that complete I moved onto the mounting Inlet Manifold. Seems like an age has passed since fannying about polishing it up. Also took the opportunity to fit the Beach Bugy Turbo's supplied 630cc Bosh injectors for the first time. nice tight fit but they may need some injector grease adding to seal.

Anyway, pr0n time :D















Next on the to do list: Remove Milltek Downpipe and Sports Cat, swap Shifter tower and linkage to 6 Speed version, start picking through the loom and begin profiling the fuel and vac lines - aeroquip style ;)

Finally got around to fitting trial fitting the engine. Due to the steering knuckle bulkhead being in the way on the MK4 chassis it has to be teased back slightly with a hammer. You can see the clearance issue in these handy pics:
 

 

 

 
No pics of my handy work to tease the bulkhead back in but this helpful gif shows how how it went:
 

 
Properly overdid it clearance wise. To point where the steering knuckle had some issues :$ all sorted now though.... Will need to grind the nub off the turbo housing as well. Me and hammers don't mix well.
 
Whilst I was stuck in there I decided to rip out all the bulkhead insulating material as well, I'm not too keen on the position of the turbo so close to the bulkhead and I know how easy that stuff goes up when exposed to high heat. Will pickup some Nimbus Lite shield and bit of heat reflective tape though it's not going to need a lot really.

Noticed on some of prawns pics a bracket running from the exhaust housing to the back of the block, supporting the turbo weight and taking the strain of the exhaust manifold.

Prawns is a custom jobbie based on the 1.8T K03 bracket but I figured the TFSi must have something similar. Enter 06F 145 536D (TFSi K03 uses version C)



The whole thing comes in two parts according to etka:

I'll be test fitting Saturday, got access to a tfsi setup so can compare easily.
