I've done more miles in the last 9 months than you've done in 9 years   . It's a bit sad that she doesn't get used often enough although now it's worth keeping the mileage down since in another 9 years with low miles/ full history and one owner it'll be worth quite a bit, shame it's not an ED30 that'd be worth loads.

All very true but whats the point keeping it minty for someone else to enjoy!
Ive done that before with cars, had 2 many garage queens myself over the years and after selling them a promised myself I'm never doing it again

Great cars are neant to be driven and enjoyed
Could be dead tommorrow
Low mileage hot hatch won't be of much use then  :rolleye:

I have the same problem when I first start the car in the morning after leaving it for a good 14 hours it struggles to start first time but after that it's start's fine every time, until it's left again and will do the exact same thing the next morning, is the conclusion that it's the starter motor? I had the battery checked and it's fine.
Car has done 52,000 and is driven every other day.

Not sure - mine could fail to start anytime - hot, cold etc. but it was a very occasional issue.

Re not using the car. I bought it new having saved for quite some time. Circumstances changed, got a company car, couldn't bring myself to sell the Golf. I thought should my employment circumstances change, I would need the car and regret selling it. Then I bought an old Series 3 Land Rover and started a restoration project with that. The Golf sat in the garage under fleece blankets but I made sure it was started and occasionally run.

It's starting to get a little more use now as it's often kept not the drive and I reckon it will do about 500 miles a year from now on. Great car, still like it and it still smells new inside  :happy2:

I buy the 2 year service packages from VW. I usually get a phone call a week or two later questioning the mileage given is correct! She'll keep.....I hope to retire in 16 years heehee.
