Air con fault

got the car scanned yesterday to see what the aircon fault is.  Report says electrical problem with the pressure sensor

00819 - High Pressure Sensor (G65): Open or Short to Ground

Anyone know where this is located on an edition30? 

Looking to get the part number from it to see if i can source one to maybe swap it out myself, assuming it isnt integral to holding the gas in lol.

Can be DIY fitted but difficult to access as the Ac pipe gets in way. It's basically the sensor that tells the car whether there is sufficent refrigerant gas. Failures aren't unheard of and there is a TPI out for its replacement. Part number 1K0 959 126 D for the latest revision. Not too expensive.

As said above, not difficult to replace, just awkward due to the lack of space.  I changed mine out last year due to a similar fault code.  The union that the pressure switch screws onto is like a tyre valve, when you unscrew the sensor it self-seals and when you install the new one it depresses and opens the valve again.  You shouldn't need a re-gas unless the system has been leaking through the faulty pressure sensor.

thanks for the replies guys i'll give VW a ring for the cost.  Hopefully the garage will do it while its getting serviced.

Glad to here its self sealing, had visions of it flying off and putting a hole in the bonnet.
