Ipod dock in a Polo, can it be removed?
« on: October 20, 2009, 09:18:35 pm »
We have just picked up my girlfriends Polo today, there is an ipod dock fitted to the dash on one of the cup holders, does anybody know if this can be removed?

Cheers in advance, chris  :happy2:

Yes it can.

In the middle of the dock remove the screw cover and undo the single screw.

You should now be able to pull off the cover plate behind off and disconnect the interface box that will be stuck inside. There is then a another cable going to the going from the interface box to the CD changer port in the headunit loom. This can just be left in place unless your planning on selling the iPod kit.

The dealer can then supply a blanking plate to cover the hole leave by the kit  :happy2:

When I am home tomorrow I can get your the part number if you need it.

Excellent thanks for that

If you could get the part number that would be great as she does not want it at all, so I will sell it if its worth anything and blank it off!

They aren't worth much but it will more than pay for the price of the blanking plate and a couple of beers to enjoy after you have removed it  :happy2:

What polo (or to more exact which stereo) is it out of?  My fiancee has recently got herself an 04 polo with the beta hu and I am actively stalking an ipod kit on ebay which ends tonight.  If I don't win it, would you be interested in selling to me ( I could throw the intact blanking plate back down to you if you send me the plate with the holder attached)?

It sounds like he has the one to go with the newer RCD200.

On the back on the Beta headunit does it have ISO or Quadlock connectors?
