Exhaust
« on: May 12, 2014, 08:36:48 pm »
Will a 2004 GTI rear back box fit a 2004 GT? or would it need to be cut and welded?

many thanks

You can make them fit easily. You don't need the whole exhaust pipe though, just the back box as
You're probably only after looks.

Had to change rear bumper (tow bar) but its a GTI so left with a GTI exhaust hole and no exhaust

Kinda guested easiest thing would to be find a cheap back box - just not sure if it would be straight forward replace?

Yeah if you've got a gti valance it's straight forward. Some people cut the pipe then put two slits in the back box end so it
Slides over your original exhaust then clamp it down.

Is the back box just a silencer........?

Could I remove this and just have a straight through pipe?

Yeah you can lose the back box if you want to. May be a slight bit louder though.
