Recommend me a TV 50"+
« on: June 02, 2014, 01:34:50 pm »
As above I'm looking to buy a new television and I have looked at the usual sites, Richer sounds, Currys, John Lewis and even Argos, Are there any others which are competitive and also anyone have any specific recommendations?

Budget is up to £900

Cheers!

Yeah ive seen that one does look good. Only issue I've got is my previous telly is a 6 year old 50" plasma also samsung and its has a 2.5" frame all the way around so its bigger overall probably comparable to a 55". So im thinking to the same space on the wall to get a 55.
How do people rate LED v PLASMA
I am also comsidering this http://m.richersounds.com/#!/product/sony-kdl55w805abu

I have a 32" LCD bravia for the bedroom amd thinks its pretty good

Ive just swapped from Plasma to LED.

Plasma (panny gt50) had better blacks, and the picture was a bit more natural.

LED (panny 740) is a bit sharper. No chance of screen burn. Thinner/lighter.

IMO passive 3d is the way to go it you have the option. Much more natural to watch.

Thanks for the insight rich thats what I was looking for. In stores I've visited the LED tvs look as thought the colours and contrast have been turned upto 100 or something!

Apart from the active 3d glasses needing batteries are there major differences between passive and active?
