Theres a goon near me with a 1.4 with R32 wheels and badges, completely standard apart from that..

GOON

Is that a silver one Jonny? Think I have seen it about.
Was riding round looking like an R32 except it still had the standard rear bumper, and a friend of a friend who has an R32 had his rear bumper stolen overnight whilst parked on his drive and then a few days later the R32 rep had an R32 rear bumper without the exhaust!  :signLOL:

If someone wants to spend their hard earned making a car look like something it isn't then good on you I say!  :happy2:

But whatever you do don't put a badge on it trying to 'pretend' it actually is!  :fighting: :fighting:

+1.

I would never make a car look like something it isn't.

As for insurance, how many of these people are gonna inform them they've turned their non-GTI to look like a GTI? I'd imagine not many!

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Dont mind sorted replicas, what I do hate is people with boggo models with no mods sticking on GTI,BMW M or Audi S badges.

There is a Fiat punto round my way where someone has stuck on VW TDI badges and polo 16v badge

....

Yes, it's the badges which cause the offence if they aren't true. I don't quite understand someone going to the trouble of creating a replica but we're all different.

A guy I know locally has made his Mk5 TDI look like a GTI and done it very well but of his own accord he is against badging it as a GTI. When I gave him a spirited ride in mine to show him what a real GTI was like he was gobsmacked!

Im with Greenouse  :pomppomp: I dont mind fake unless its badged up thats why mine has no badges at all :chicken:

I also tried to keep it low key so it doesn't initially stand out has a GTI,  Im also bored of the gti look so on the look out for the Jetta/GT front end now,

I tested loads of cars before I decided on my current GT tdi sport,  I dont regret it one bit,  Although I will be waiting for the price of the new GTi to come down cos im quite liking them now they've grown on me. :happy2:

Darren, have you ever thought about adding a red lip on the front splitter and some black wheels with red edges?

I assume you'll be selling her as is and not put back to original GT.
