Rear Vw badge
« on: June 02, 2014, 11:56:30 am »
The previous owner of my car put on a rear black badge, I dont like it and want to change it back to the standard badge. Do I need to buy a whole new unit? I think he just pulled off the old badge and stuck on the new one!! I tried pulling the black badge off put it didnt seem to want to come away too easy!

You can just get a mk5 rear badge or if you want to go for the 3d mk6 badge. Lift the boot handle upwards as if youre opening the boot and you can pry the old badge off and do the old switch-a-roo and all that. Mk6 badges need a few tabs removing. Got one to do myself in a few weeks so I can let you know how I get on :)

The most key part of it is step one, look for the wee hole on the buttom of the badge when trying to remove it. Then you'll pry around the edges, simply lift the inside of the 'V' part in the 'W' and the bottom part of the 'V' to remove the final two clips!
Aye, that wan.

Why is a mk6 badge better than mk5 guys?

Simply because it's '3D' and is bevelled outwards instead of being part of the one piece which can get the whiteworm problem.
