Skoda Octavia vRS TDI
« on: June 02, 2014, 11:41:47 pm »
After about two and a half years great years with my GTI Edition 30 I've sold up and changed to an oil burner. Main reason is for better MPG as well as just fancying a change to something a bit different and a good bit newer.

I've only had it for a few days but I'm really enjoying the car so far and not finding it too far off the GTI in terms of speed. I think the higher torque figure on the vRS helps.

It's a 2012 vRS TDI with DSG, mfsw, full black leather interior, heated seats, reverse parking sensors and cruise. Hoping to add a Columbus sat nav at some point.

Cheers guys.

Planning to put a Columbus sat nav in it at some point.

Have ordered a K&N Air Filter for it. Have got one for almost all of my previous cars.

Might get it mapped once the year's warranty runs our.

How are you finding the real life mpg figure difference. Reason i ask is 16k a year in the ED30 now, im av 30-32mpg, if i went down the vrs route i would hope for 45-48mpg to make it worth while.

My daily commute is 20 miles each way with a mixture of all sorts of roads. Best mpg I've had so far is 51. Average 40-50 mpg most days over the whole trip.

My Edition 30 gave me 300 miles to a tank over the same journey whilst the vRS is returning about 450-470 ish. Obviously if you do longer motorway or B road jaunts you'll get even more.

I got just over 500 miles from the tank driving home from Derby to Glasgow when I bought it a few weeks ago.
