Black Magic GTI Build thread! R32 rear on!
« on: June 04, 2014, 12:06:20 am »
Thought I'd start my build thread since I'm starting to do more to the car now, that I said I wasn't going to do!

Moved over from a MK4 a couple months ago, this was it:

Loved the car, just fancied something else. So started looking around at MK5's and eventually found one I liked with decent miles and a good spec which is as follows:

2006 3 door GTI Black Magic LC9Z
64k miles
18 inch Monza's,
Bilstien suspension,
BCS turbo back exhaust,
Polar FIS Advanced+,
Full heated leather,
RNS510,
Power folding mirrors,
Climate control,
Highline display,
Multifunction steering wheel,
Bluetooth,
iPod,
Auto mirrors and wipers,
Boot popper

So a couple of days later took it out in the sun for some photos:

The paint defects had always quite annoyed me and being black were even more noticable, so I got myself a Meguiars G220 V2 to do some correction, here are a couple before and after shots.

Before:

After:

Still needs going over the whole car as just haven't had a chance to get anything done with the dual action but will get round to it. Bonnet is pretty much done though!  :happy2:

Then my parents bought a MK5 R32 which is also very well spec'd and the sound is sooooo good

Then got some GTI inserts for the seats, very good finish and fit!

Before:

After:

Sun was out the other day so after finally purchasing an AutoBrite HD Snow foam lance decided to have a good wash!

Gave cleaning my exhaust a go too, I didn't think it would be possible to really clean it up but the difference when you look at the whole car is pretty big, still want to spend a little more time on it but much better!

Befores:

Midway:

After:

And that's where I'm at now. I've got a couple big things waiting to be delievered with regards to suspension so hopefully get them fitted at some point soon!  :happy2:

Cheers

Cheers! A lot more to do on the paint though! The exhaust can be time consuming but a bit of elbow grease and comes up a treat! What did you use yo clean yours?

I used a brillo pad for the worse bits and then just a lot of metal polish and a microfibre. The brillo pad trick is good as it cuts through the crap pretty quickly but doesnt scuff the metal

Could do with spending some more time on mine at some point just to get that extra shine

2 parcels I was waiting on arrived over the past few days, the first one from fellow member KennyGTI:

And then this arrive today:

Can't wait to get them both on, will do them in one go! Any suggestions for which setting to have the front ARB on? I've read that softer on the front with hardest on the rear (when I get it) is the best setup, does anyone have a front and rear that they can explain?

Also got this on a long journey the other day, quite impressed with how economical it can be! Was around a 150 mile trip, I did do a fair bit of over taking too so wasn't exactly trying to be economical  :P

That's all for now, till I get those bits on!  :happy2:
