SEAT RNS310
« on: June 02, 2014, 08:40:12 pm »
One on these has come up locally at a bargain price (sub £50), its been sold as a VW RNS310 stereo.

Will fit and work? If so do I need a can gateway?

It's a third generation unit so if it works you'll need a gateway that version L or above to avoid battery drain.
Without traction power is nothing!

It will work as they are also fitted to some VW cars, as said above will require correct gateway. Should be able to upload correct boot up screen for VW too.

Wow that's super cheap! Yes it will work fine in a Golf, mines actually originally from a Leon.

You shouldn't need a new gateway either as no one has ever reported the RNS 310 specifically as causing drain, its only the RCD 310, RCD 510 and RNS 510 that seem to cause problems. I'm still using an ancient version F gateway and have left my car parked for well over a week without any drain whatsoever  :happy2:

Excellent news. For that price I might as well buy it and sling it on ebay if it doesn't work.

How is easy is it to add a sub/amp to these units?

That means the wife will end up with my Pioneer now  :signLOL:

Make sure it has maps loaded on to it, and make sure they're as new as you need. There's no way to update the maps (or install them if they've been wiped) other than buying a new SD card from VW (or Seat) and that's not cheap.
Sarcasm for free. Anything after that can only be considered as a bonus.

Just because you think you know something, doesn't make you an expert if you've just read it on the internet, y'know.

That's only for the RNS 315. The 310 maps can be had a bit easier with a bit of clever google searching and a blank cd/ SD card ....

Looks like the same guy as their both in Sheffield, its through a mate of mate who didn't mention a fault. Luckily its local enough that I can go and have a look at what the fault is.

Thanks for the help chaps.
