I put money on the plugs if its just like you describe - sounds too similar to mine.  I ended up swapping the coilpacks first but it didnt really need them - plugs wont hurt it anyway

I'm pretty sure it is running quite aggressive settings, i know fuel was 9 and to be honest I'm pretty sure it was 9 6 9 or maybe 6 6 9.

If you are running a boost setting of 9 on standard hw then you will most likely run into problems like fuel cuts.  However I doubt this is the case as you have been problem free with the remap since Jan.

i would say fuel cut / knock sensor kicking in cos of low fuel so cuts boost suddenly...

i would never do WOT / full boost if the car is running on empty. asking for trouble really. Det / Pink / BANG!

prob just a coilpack on the way out ..
however to be on the safe side you need to consider it could be  a fuel cut , which given its hasnt happened before you may wish to get your cam follower checked esp if its an early gti

in which case you should get the fault codes + log if possible , as you do have an early GTI which may have the REV A camshaft...

What type of fuel are you using Ryan?

tesco 99 usually but this last tank is v power

Maybe running the tank close to empty has picked up some contamination from the bottom of the tank then?

That is a bit of 'old skool' thinking - on two grounds.  The fuel pickup is actually in the very bottom of the tank, and so will suck up any sh!t weather the tank is full or empty.  And then there is the full flow inline fuel filter.

But thinking aloud, if the tank was quite low, it may actually be simply down to fuel starvation, due to a slightly lazy in-tank pick up pump (ECU and CAN controlled - so will throw a MIL light).

Do Revo have Manual and dsg Version'd maps like Superchips?

I had a lean "sneeze" or misfire develop at 70mph in 4th, which was cured with correct map.

Good point  :happy2: :ashamed:
