I enquired about a 1.4 TSI 170 ages and ages ago at my local dealer and asked about remapping, they said they offered Superchips remap and this would not invalidate the warranty.

Suspect it may be dealer specific.

@Saintsteve - they will be mapping the mk7 like they did the K04 no doubt - fling open the actuator and let the turbo work flat out for that initial surge. . . Then tail out towards the top end

I should decide by next week whether it not I'm placing an order.

Trying to get a hold of a demonstrator first. I have to know what it's like on fuel in the real world.

The 5k miles a year is a massive issue - however, it's 6p per mile for anything over. Might be worth paying the extra each year for over clocking the allowance.

Excess Mileage charge of 10000 miles @ 6pence per mile = £6000 per year (Total £12,000)
Total 2 Year Cost  doing 15k miles per year (minus fuel, insurance etc) = £17,529.60

So you would be far better off taaking a higher mileage lease policy.

I inquired about this at the weekend.  Got the following from Vehicle Savers on Monday morning.  She mentions Solid White as that was the colour I picked, and 5K a year is OK for me as I use the train to get to work.

I have saved quotes as follows (Cheaper to have 5k pa rates and pay the excess of 6p per mile 10k pa adds £41 + vat to the rental!)

Yeah sorry originally I calculated at 12k a year but realised i couldn't compare it directly to the other lease options (5, 10, 15..)
