I should decide by next week whether it not I'm placing an order.

Trying to get a hold of a demonstrator first. I have to know what it's like on fuel in the real world.

The 5k miles a year is a massive issue - however, it's 6p per mile for anything over. Might be worth paying the extra each year for over clocking the allowance.

Just for reference if you did 15k a year (covering the average use of most of us) ... costs are as follows using the website and current figures.

5K per annum limit

2 Year Lease Cost = £5,529.60
Excess Mileage charge of 10000 miles @ 6pence per mile = £6000 per year (Total £12,000)

So you would be far better off taaking a higher mileage lease policy.

That being said, if you were doing that sort of miles and could afford a larger deposit you would probably be better off with a HP deal from a dealer.

Unless I am being stupid, or I am missing something I think you have calculated the miles at 60p per mile.

It should be 0.06x10000 which equals £600 for a year and then £1200 for two years.

10,000 miles @ 6p a mile = £600 per year (Total £1200)      (10000 x 6p) / 100 = £600

I've been on the phone to enquire and I asked about maintainance package as I will prob do about 8k a year. The maintainance is £12 a month and with this extra miles go from 6p per mile upto 10p per mile, but service costs and tyres are included in this ! Even more tempting as I'm sure I'd need more than 1 set of tyres in 2 years ! To me the deal is even more appealing now

 - as in 2 years time the market will be flooded with them being offered with circa 10k miles at affordable purchase outright prices.

At this moment in time, my head is fighting with my heart over the 2.

Heart says R. Head says GTD.

I can get the R for £20pcm less than what most people can get them, due to my brother being a leasing broker.
Basically, cost price. I was certain to order the R - until I found out my oldest got accepted in to school that will add around 50 miles a week to my journey. That's going to cut a sizeable chunk in to my 8,000m pa allowance.  The GTD comes with  a limit of 10k per year and is cheaper on the pence per mile thereafter.

The difference is quite incredible, which is to be expected.

I test drove both back to back, getting a GTD as a company car but drove the R as it was there. The GTD can hold it's own on the road and is surprisingly good at handling in the bends as well.

I will be interested to hear your opinions!

If I'm honest, I know what I'll get from the R. Pace and glue like handling.

I'm more interested in what the GTD can offer. If it's 2/3 of the car the R is - as figures suggest, then the GTD might just win the argument. One other thing that I have to bear in mind is, I will remap the GTD but will leave the R stock.

I really do want the R. These are incredible deals - but it won't be the last time. These deals come along fairly often. I nearly got a 135i M sport for £260 all in 6 months back - but the wife deemed it to be too small and cramped inside.

It goes allot faster than most people can imagine. I'd even go as far as saying it 'felt' every bid as quick to 100kph (

GTD wins because I'm in the middle of a career change and my mileage is likely to increas by September.
