Goodyear eagle f1

How do chaps, im looking at swapping out my tyres for the goodyear eagle f1's after much praise on most forums. One question tho what type of tread pattern are these suppose to come with? Reason i ask is that there looks to be 2 types. Theres one with a simular type of pattern to toyo's and the other looks just like a normal tread? Can someone confirm which ones im meant to be looking at? Cheers

Checked camskill and are currently listed at £93 for 225/40/18. Thats by far the cheapest ive seen thanks for the heads up

I spent over a week looking for a cheaper place than camskill, i found one with free delivery which worked out £12 cheaper but i was happy to pay the £12 for next day. I got them fitted yesterday but i haven't really tested them out yet.

Those f1s need a few hundred miles of scrub in before you experience their full potential.

I'll keep that in mind then before i have an accident, cheers. I know they are asymmetrical so theres an inside and an outside but depending whi h side you put the tyre on the tread will be opposite on one side if you get me? There is no directional arrow atall

Yes, if you have them on correctly, the treads will face the opposite in each axis. Since they're not directional you can do a back-front, left-right swap no problem.

That wont work, all 4 tyres obviously have exactly the same tread on so one side will be different to the other. I'll see if i can post an example pic up later

If you imagine that wheel is on the drivers side of the car and the car is facing away from you, if you look on the inside edge of the tyre you see the tread from the outside goes towards the middle of the tyre and forwards which is correct for dispersing water.



Now imagine the car facing towards you and the wheel is on the passenger side, the tread that goes from the inside edge to the middle now goes backwards instead of forwards, surely this is bad because it wont be able to disperse water? Or am i  :stupid:

That's right, if installed correctly, asymmetrical tyres will have their treads facing opposite directions when talking about the same axis, i.e front wheels. This does seem weird but all asymmetrical tyres should look like this when on a car. In the F1s it's easier to notice because of the design of the water grooves that go up until the tyre's profile.

Apparently it's the inner and outer side of the tread that plays the important part and not the direction of the grooves which are opposite by definition in all asymmetricals.
This is also why you can swap them in any place you want to as long as you keep the in side/out side arrangement, unlike directional tyres.

 :signLOL: just keep in mind that those get great reviews in both wet and dry but they have low aquaplaning resistance, so don't hit that puddle too hard!  :laugh:
