Stereo upgrade options to add Bluetooth and iPod

Hi,

As the title suggest, I'm looking to upgrade the standard stereo on our GTI. It's currently fitted with the RCD500 and some (broken) aftermarket iPod kit.

The iPod kit doesn't work and we’d also like to add Bluetooth, so I’m considering what is the best route to take. We have the multi function steering wheel and the highline computer display, so any replacement stereo must be fully compatible with these.

I’m so far considering the following:

Zenec Z-E2014 unit, with Bluetooth, iPod connectivity, steering wheel controls and highline computer display compatibility. Can anyone confirm that this unit is fully compatible with the steering wheel controls and computer display on the mk5 GTI? Do I need to fit anything else or upgrade anything in the car? Advantage of this is I can fit an amplifier in the future as we are considering upgrading the speakers too.

RNS510, it’s genuine VW so should be fully compatible, yes? I think I may need to upgrade the gateway, yes? I think I did this years ago on my Octavia VRS, but I can’t remember what I ftted, how I fitted it, or why!!! Thoughts on this please? Will I also need to buy a Bluetooth kit and iPod kit too? In which case it will probably be too expensive and a pointless upgrade.

Finally, keep the existing stereo, (or upgrade to the RCD310 or 510?) and fit an aftermarket Bluetooth and iPod kit like this:

How do the above interfaces work? Will they work with the steering wheel controls and computer display too? Even for Bluetooth?

I should mention that I don't need sat nav at all. I just want a good quality stereo with Bluetooth and iPod and if possible, the possibility to add external amplifiers in the future.

I would really appreciate any help with this.

I've purchased a RCD510 and intend to buy an oem bluetooth module to work with it which seems to be the best option.

You could look at an RNS500 which has sat nav but they are quite a bit more expensive.

I'm pretty new to the scene so I'm sure someone could give more detailed recommendations but that's what I've figured out so far.
