gutted
« on: June 15, 2014, 01:56:20 pm »
Hi all I've had my golf a few weeks now and I've only just looked through its old mot's properly on the net which is obviously stupid and there's an anomoly in that the mileage readings are 7k for its first mot 10k for its second 15k for its third but then for its 4th it jumps up to 145k!!! Then the following year back down to 45k  then 54k and then 62k which according to the odometer it is currently on. The other anomoly is that in the mot with the high reading it declares my car as petrol when its a TDI? Is it an error on the mot checkers behalf or have I been had :-( the car runs lovely and no faults I just thought I'd found a lower mileage example that's all

Sounds like an error to me.

Even if the mileage had been tampered I'd imagine the first 3 are correct meaning it would have had to have done 130K between 2 MOTs which I doubt happened.

That's what logic tells me mate but I just had a sinking feeling when I saw it, the car has also had cruise added and the w8 light mod and I'm not sure if its standard on se's but it's also got clocks in that show me miles to empty etc so i was thinking the clocks may have been swapped in and MOT'd before a mileage correction was done I don't know, I'm waffling I know but its been doing my head in

Is yours a MK4 or MK5 as i've not heard of the W8 light MOD on the MK5 before.

I'd say it's an error too. I sort out the MOT/Servicing for lots of cars each week and it's scary just how many get get entered incorrectly on the service book and MOT certificate

Most likely an error, doing 100k+ miles between MOTs would be pretty impressive!  :driver:

Bit off topic but how do you check previous mot's on the internet?

it will most likely just be an error. I wouldn't worry about it
