Engine flush... Yes a or a big no ?
« on: June 21, 2014, 02:16:31 pm »
What are your thoughts on using engine (oil) flush on GTI mk5 done 30,000kms ?
Should I do it once before I change the oil myself ? If so what's best flush ?

Or I should just put a new oil and filter then change both after 2000kms ?

And what about those fuel injector cleaners ? I used Wurth on my two previous cars which non were turbo.
Using injector cleaner has benefit or can damage this engine (standard GTI ) ?

The flush will dislodge gunk. This may very well partly block the oil pickup gauze.

I think most would recommend regular oil changes only, with fully synthetic 504/507 oil.

The only flush I do on anything is new cheaper oil, run for a few minutes on idle and change.

Problem with flush is that it never all leaves the engine as there will always be oil and flush residue left in the sump. I wouldn't personally use it unless I was removing and cleaning the sump out, whilst the sump is off check the filter on the end of the oil pick up pipe. If it's clogged replace or clean then replace the sump.
