345mm 2 piece discs
« on: October 25, 2009, 10:47:05 am »
This is aimed mainly at the brake guys on here like daveb1970

are there any Vag or non Vag for that matter 345mm 2 piece brake discs available on the markewill be a direct replacemnt for R32 discs.

Im aware the R32 calipers with 345mm discs have great stopping power I just would like to swap the discs once they wear out for something lighter and able to dissipate heat.

TAROX do replacement discs as well as full upgrades. You'd be well off to ask Awesome if they could do 2 piece replacements that mate with the stock calipers......won't be cheap though! :happy2:

i'm sure someone out there (including AP) can offer a 2 piece disc / bell set up at 345mm that fits onto a Mk5 hub

well actually they already have the bell as they have a kit for the GTI, so just a case of having a disc at 345mm size instead of the 330mm!

may cost a bit tho.

cheers u=hurdy pa. the tarox upgrades are they two piece or just lighter 1 piece. might not be cheap but in comparison to a big brake kit, it could be ok, will hae to send an email or two

would another option be instead of having 345mm two pieces discs made, maybe getting a set of 330mm two piece discsand having smaller carriers. would it work or would that be a no go

I had some two piece discs made up by BG developments http://www.bgdevelopments.co.uk/ they were really helpful.

I sent them my disc and they made the bells with the same offset, matched them with AP rotors and assembled them with full floating bobbins. Mine were 330mm replacement for Brembo 1 piece.

Beware that full floating may not be for everyone as they are noisy.

You can buy 343x32mm discs & bells off Alcon for around £800 a pair - your caliper won't work on them though.
Sideways yo!

thasts exactly what i needed.

the stopping power is good on the R32 brakes so surely 2 piece discs that cool quicker and weigh alot less are a big pro point. and could be more cost effective than a big brake kit. especially if you cant afford a set of two piece brakes when it comes to replacing them so you could revert back to OEM.

have been in contact by phone. very helpful guy there called simon.

im sending through that diagram. he thinks we'd be looking @ £80 pound for each bell(which would be a one of payment, and 200 per side for discs. good thing is the bell is a one off buy and when it comes to replacing you only need the outer disc.

they can do drilled or grooved(personnaly i dont want grooved)

and even better news they will do group discount. with 5 people he said the bell could drop to around 60-65 quid.

prospecrts look good.

anyone got any other schematic diagrams or other important dimensions for the discs incase the above diagram isnt good enough.

if the diagram isnt good enough they will need a 345mm disc to do their cast off.
