Any ideas where it's coming from? Front, back? When does it do it. My Whiteline RARB creaks from time to time.

Mine was creaking , more noticeable when someone got in / out of the back seats.
Turned out to be a broken rear spring.

My bearings went on both my previous polo and my GTI and caused the same sounds you're describing.

I only had the bearings replaced on the GTI 4 months back and now I can hear the other side starting to creak.

Unfortunately it's not something you can check easily. You need to remove the wheel, coil springs and shocks to get at the bearings.

A top & bottom set of bearings rotate with one another so after a while the rubber gets cut away and the noise you're hearing is the metal bearings grinding together without the rubber to cushion.

You can do this work yourself in a few hours but you're going to need a set of coil compressors and a patient head.

Mine has started soon as I lowered it!

Now the camber bolts are seized in the arms so I couldn't pre load it as much as I wanted to! So I think it's stressed a bush!
I will replace the hole rear arm and bush set up soon! Only way to stop it!

I should imagine yours in the same issue!

Ps to remove a mk5 rear bearing you only need to remove wheel, disc, caliper and carrier then the 30mm nut, bearing will slide off and on easy!
Never has a bearing creak but could be poss if this is happening just when rocking back and forth..

Bearings aren't expensive at all.

I got both top and bottom set on the polo for around €20. GTI was still under warranty so I didn't need to pay at all but should still be cheap.

The labour involved is a different story. For a good mechanic it's still half a days work to do both sides so definitely tackle it yourself if you feel competent.

??? If any one takes half a day to do them I'd be worried!

We do them in about 2 hrs for both sides!
