VW Rust update
« on: June 26, 2014, 09:41:14 pm »
Ive had an email back from vw today saying they will replace the front wings FOC, SUBJECT to me providing full service history.

Also they will only paint the wings, they want £140 per side if I want it blended in.

Can someone advise me what I should do? Should I email VW UK? If so does snyone hav a contact name?

Surely they have to do it regardless of warranty and surely they have to blend it FOC ?

Many thanks

I recently went to my local arnold Clark and they inspected the paintwork etc.

The result was they said vw would cover 70% and they would do the rest for free cause it was their bodyshop. They didn't ask to see any history or anything. I'd email vw and see what they said, especially given how common a problem it is they might do something about it

I've had four wings on my mk5's and not one has been dependant on service history.

Was this VW Customer Care, or a local dealer that said this? Call Customer Care for calrification.

Fact is that right now VW are again paying 100% for a wing replacement and paint. I just got a refund by cheque of the 25% contribution I paid towards the last wing in March.
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Thank you for the input guys.

Sorry if I have not been 100% clear. This information was all given to me by VW (listers) body shop. They have agreed to replace the front wings and paint free of charge......however........

They will not blend the paint into the bonnet or doors. So I will end up with two new paints wings only. They want £1400 to do the rush on the rear badge, as they advise it would be best to replace the boot lid. This is NOT coverered yet clearly this is RUSTING.

So questions.....

1. Who do I contact at VW head office?
2. should they be blending the car for free? Into the doors and bonnet to get a colour match? The body shop want to charge me for blending?
3. I need to fight for the tailgate to be done at VW HQ
4. Do I get authorisation from VW HQ about the service history?

Thank you all?...garage do seem very helpfull but say there funding for al the work is controlled by VW HQ

Get in contact with vw listers head office. I had a similar issue with listers and spoke to one of their guys at head office. It was sorted out in the end. But I needed 2 wings, sills repairing and the boot doing. Was going to be done by them 100% but they ended up buying the car back instead.
Mods coming soon...

Ok, interesting.

Do you have a contact name/details?

What is the age of your car? Did you have full service service? What did you say to them?

Ive just had 2 new painted wings fitted and VW UK said their goodwill offer (100%) would not cover blending. Luckily for me no blending was necessary, it is a perfect match, and mine is tornado red.
