Anybody used Automotive Diagnostic Solutions based in Preston and another company called VolkService in blackpool?
Thinking of using them but wondered if anyone had experience with them before?.... Any good????

Not used either but I've worked with ADS at the last two GTI International event's and they're great guys. Really keen to help and a great attitude towards the customer! :happy2:

Looking at the reviews they sound good for garage work. It's hard to judge how good they are at tuning cars from how well they can drain oil and bolt on exhausts?

Is it their own map, or written by some guy in china (whose probably never seen a mk5 GTI  )

Awesome GTI sell remaps, but it's isn't written by them it's just a cheap generic code with their name on it.

Perhaps ask them a few questions and understand more about the map. A good question is if they log the car with VCDS to see if the car is happy with what is being asked of it - particularly if you have mods, you want to know how the map is adapting to an intake or exhaust.

I say this as only the other day someone had a generic map installed, it wasn't making good power and was massively overfuelling  :scared:

I spoke to Awesome GTI when a friend got his 1.9 Jetta TDI mapped as part of their £150 flash on deal

I asked if they had a similar deal for the GTI.

Was told if I'm not paying "at least £500 for a map it's crap"

"niki at rtech charges under 300 for a stage 1 map"

"well all i'm saying is if you want the quality you have to pay for it"

really??  :signLOL: :signLOL: :signLOL:

They are all about the big brands though, and keep flicking between Revo & APR dependant on who offers them the best deal.

They no nothing about proper engine tuning (or management of their inventory ), only how to bolt on parts and sell people brands

Well im going to have t go and ask them whose map they are using...or whether it is generic, as i agree, a bespoke map to the car is what i would prefer.
I think awesome gti costs quite a bit as like you say, theyre selling the brand, so they have to pay for the map then whack their money on top!
...So really your paying for them to be the middle man.  :signLOL:
If awesome say "if your not paying £500 for a map then its crap" then if they stand by that statement then they must buy crap maps as they themselves dont pay £500!
I really want a bespoke map but i want someone with a decent reputation as i dont want just any 'tuner' messing with my car.  :scared:
i wouldnt mind finding a decent independent tuner.
At £300 Rtech seems reasonable to be fair but theyre pretty far away from me.
I thought theyre might have been a mk5 specialist tuner on here????
I want more of a torque increase than bhp to be honest.
I think im going to go to ADS and Volkservice this week and discuss what they offer, i will report back and see what you guys think of theyre answers!  :happy2:

^wow that sig pic is big

If your not happy with their answer, fill your tank up with V-Power, get a decent playlist on your iPod and take a road trip to R-Tech  :drinking:

People have driven 5hrs each way to get a map from R-Tech. Speaks volumes

Go to GNJ Motorsport instead, IMO best garage around here :)

They sell Shark Performace remaps and they also have a guy that maps while the car is on rollers.

Im from Preston BTW.
