My Tornado Red
« on: April 13, 2016, 12:07:31 pm »
This is my 1st Golf Gti and I love it. I had a Gt Tdi before and the Cambelt went so not gonna make the same mistake twice. Pretty standard apart from the previous owner said it was mapped. Having the Cam follower and DV done this afternoon and scanned for any other issues as it doesn't feel that quick. Drove a Gt Tdi 170 a couple of weeks ago and that seemed much quicker. Fingers crossed it'll be sorted. Cheers

Just found out my DV was torn to shreds and my hpfp has a split on the solenoid. The DV was original Rev B. The last owner must have been driving it for years with no power and when I bought it he was telling me how quick it was and how he loved it. He will never know what he's missed out on. Oh well my gain his loss.

Just wondered if anyone can give me an idea of the amount of power that can be lost from a knackered DV. Mine was absolutely shredded.

When I tested the car 0-60 I couldn't do it in less than 8.40secs. Thats an indication of how underpowered it was. Then I joined this forum and found a ton of info on what could be causing this. Glad I did or I wouldn't have had a clue.

It felt like I gained 20bhp and 30lb/ft when I went from a split rev C to a new rev G. Probably not accurate but it made a huge difference. And like you, I wouldn't have known about changing it if it wasn't for this forum!
