« on: June 29, 2014, 08:02:02 pm »
Thinking of getting my mk5 gti wrapped, is it worth it ?

Does anyone know how much roughly it costs nowadays.

Whats gurantee on it and would i need to tell dvla?

Cheers

The main reason people get there cars wrapped is because you can have a colour change which later can be easily be removed & back to your original paint if you change your mind. I've heard prices vary from £1100 upwards and pretty sure DVLA don't need to be informed as its a temporary colour change.

Cheers. Thinking of getting bonnet etc repainted then just getting the car wrapped to keep it good. Possible a colour change to grey or somthing. Its silver just now.

If it gets done good then it's worth it if you can afford it :).  New law has been brought in back in Feb I think it was though.  You need to inform your insurance and the DVLA.

I'm not sure about the DVLA, as it's technically not a colour change because the body work still retains the original paint colour underneath. It's like putting wallpaper up, it's still the same colour wall under it but you don't see it. As for insurance, always declare anything, even if it's a standard GTI option that wasn't on your car (for example, I'm fitting a leather interior in place of my cloth, I shall declare on insurance).

I'm sure a law must have been passed (quietly) about wrapping so well worth checking out. The law isn't worth messing with in the long run.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

I've been thinking about doing mine too!
Had a couple of quotes, on for £400 and another for £750
Just a matter of asking and getting them to price beat!

Thats really cheap. Was expecting from £1000 to £1500.

Hopfully get it as cheap as you got quoted but willing to pay extra for a good job.

Will make sure i check with insurance etc but my insurance said any mods inless it affect performance its free to add to the policy.

Seen stuff done by clyde wraps and infinity are supposed to be good as well. New place over near cambuslang called city auto wraps. Not sure of their work though.
