I bought mine from a VW main dealer, I noticed the mechantronic kangarooing a month or so after. Told them I wasn't happy and they did the work for me within a month. It did take them 2 weeks to even get a unit to replace it though.

New mechatronic unit and also replaced my front wings as well as they were rusty. I've got nothing but praise for them as I've paid nothing, I was fairly straight with them about it but they did it no fuss.

It seems to depend rather a lot on the dealer in question!

I hope I 'm this lucky. Mine is booked in for a '2 day' diagnostic! Its definitely the mechatronics, clunkly shifting down to 1st gear and kangarooing a treat in 1st when oil is warm. Car is 08 with full vw service history including dsg service so fingers crossed for some goodwill   :popcornsoda:

Do we know if these "new" Mechatronic are supposed to be better and longer lasting than the original ones ? The original one on mine was a 2009 Mk6 GTI DSG.. in theory not really one of the early DSGs and still it failed in less than 6k miles.. I hope that by 2014 they would have figured out how to build one that is not made of chocolate..

hmm well they come with rewewed warranty on the part I believe so if anything goes wrong again its covered  :popcornsoda: ive read some posts/threads that some had to replace the whole gearbox as the "new" mechatronic didn't resolve the problem. all feels really good ATM haven't had any problems yet since getting mine sorted last month independently only issue I still have, don't know if its an issue actually is that sometimes when you downshift using the paddle from 4th to 3rd the car delays for about a second before shifting and you feel like your slowing down due to the engine braking

Took car into vw this morning for a 2day diagnostics, they rang this afternoon to say it is the mechatronics unit and will cost £1600 all in to fix. I asked about goodwill and the guy said there was none offered! I asked the reason why and he said 'the system decides'! He said they type in all the details of the car and the problem and the computer gives a 'yes' or 'no'.
Anyone got experience with the dreaded mechatronics and no goodwill scenario?
Car has full vw service history, 08, has had vw dsg service and is not modified (yet  :innocent:) currently on 61k.
