Right so I bought a RNS 510

I asked the question about battery drain & someone told me that if your cars 2007 or newer you don't need the modified box to prevent battery drain because they modified the boxes then... (Mines a 57 plate)

I'm so confused can someone help please...

I've heard that 2007 models onward had upgraded electronics. I have fitted an aftermarket Kenwood (OEM fitting and integration) and I didn't use anything but the wiring provided. No battery drain.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Think I should fit it? & see what happens?

57 should be ok, best thing to do is get the car scanned or find the canbus and see what version it is

I have an 07. Just ordered a 510 from turbo herbie on eBay . I told him my chassis number and he informed me that I have an 8 chassis and will not have the battery drain issue.

Is there a way of checking by chassis then?

Yes, the garage looked at the vin code on my dash visible from the windscreen and confirmed that it was an 08 model hence no requirement for an updated Canbus  :happy2:
