Josh's reflex Gti (sold) mk2 Leon Cupra (present)
« on: July 03, 2014, 07:49:03 pm »
Hi everyone I'm fairly new on here just sold my e46 m3 and needed a more sensible daily, I previously had an 07 dsg r32 and fancied another mk5.

Here's the old m3

And the old r32

So here's the gti...

55 plate

3dr manual gti

76'000 miles

Full leather xenons

It came already colour coded which was a bonus.

I'm really happy with it. Really surprised I prefer it to the r32.

Anyway this is me trying to save money and be sensible!

I've done a few things upto now first being a stage 1 remap at more-BHP in Crewe, Jason and Mike highly recommended, these guys are perfectionists I've never had service like it! They had it on the rolling road 3 times and then The ramp to check the diverter valve and actuator until they were happy with the results. They explained how they vary depending on engine code etc anyway the end results were

242bhp / 387nm.

Next thing I did was invested in some lowering springs I searched ebay for the lowest available and found 55mm springs and I was on a budget so these will do for now until I get some coilovers, this is how it sits now...

Next up I put an intake on, I couldn't decide on an autotech intake because i read a few reviews about maf reading problems and I didn't want to spend £3-400 on an intake!

So I called forge and ordered the maf sensor pipe with dv blanking plate for k03 (from the twintake kit) which is 2.75 inch

The turbo is 2.25 inch so I ordered a 2.25/2.75 silicone boost pipe reducer

A 2.75/3" reducer for the other end of the maf pipe

2x 3" alloy boost pipes

2x 3" 90 degree silicone boost pipes

And finally I found a k&n cone filter 3" fitment

Costing me around £120 for everything and the reassurance of the correct maf reading from the forge twintake kit.

To say it was abit of a guess ordering the parts it all fits perfect! And a noticeable power increase so I'm very happy with how it worked out.

To do list:

3" decat downpipe

S3 intercooler

Stage 2 remap ( will be going to more-BHP again )

Maybe bbs lm's or team dynamic pro race 1.2s.

Sorry for all the pics!!! Can't help it!

Il keep updating as and when.

A few more pics trying snowfoam for the first time

Thanks mate. Can't go wrong for the money! The guy I spoke to at forge said a lot more people are asking for just the maf pipe.

I will take some and get them put up. I'm surprised how good the springs sat but it's compromised the comfort abit!

Sweet !

I've also got a 55 reflex silver Golf!

The ride height looks awesome.

Apart from not getting over big speed bumps is there a big diff to the ride quality?

Also are they 17s or 18s?

Hiya mate yes it is a lot harder to be honest, also 18s at the moment. Have you got a build thread?

Oh a lot harder dosnt sound great. :surprised:

I'll maybe keep saving for my coilovers.
I had FK on my mk4 and my old classic bug was slammed :)
Now I have a daughter to pick up from nursery so springs are not top of my list.

No build thread just yet as I've only had her a few months.

You car looks sweet though so low !
