Oh a lot harder dosnt sound great. :surprised:

I'll maybe keep saving for my coilovers.
I had FK on my mk4 and my old classic bug was slammed :)
Now I have a daughter to pick up from nursery so springs are not top of my list.

No build thread just yet as I've only had her a few months.

You car looks sweet though so low !
I'm in the same boat mate, only had the car for 2 months.
they were just the cheapest low option when I bought it, it does sit well I was surprised but not the comfiest!!
I'm thinkin FKs in the near future I wish I'd waited instead of rushing it!

Il keep an eye out for your reflex silver gti when you start a thread mate.

So a few parts arrived in the post today, I needed to replace the front lower grill after some birds decided to fly straight through it!

So I ordered open fog light grills and yellow tint film for the fog lights whilst I was doing it all.

Also the upper grill was looking very dull so I decided to paint it gloss black to clean up the front, anyway I ended up doing the badge black and the new grills also.

It's kept me busy for the afternoon! Let me know what you think...

New grills

Apologies for my crap iPhone camera!

My downpipe arrived the other day, it's a 3" decat I was going to have ago at fitting it myself but I don't think there's enough clearance on axle stands so I took it to my local garage to fit, he charged me £40 to fit including a sleeve and 2 clamps to join to the standard rear section.

What a huge difference it's made to performance you can tell how restricted it was! The noise isn't overly different driving steady but on full chat it sounds great! So it's now stage 2 ready but I don't know weather to wait and spend the money I would remapping it on an intercooler and them map it in a few months.

Also changed my rev D to a rev G but I haven't noticed a difference so I now have a spare. Here's a few more pics...

And a clean!

Just a quick update.

I wasn't very happy with how tatty my steering wheel was looking a fellow member recommended using a hot damp towel to remove all of the surface grease, so I did this then I found some autoglym leather cleaner that's been in my cupboard for a few years I used that to finish it off and these are the results...

Before

After

Pleased to say it only took 10 minutes to do.

Next up my car was covered in tar so I spent a couple of hours on this followed by T-cut then followed by a polish with autoglym super resin polish.

It looks so much better definitely worth doing

I also had a go at doing ed30/r32 rear lights with tint spray and laquer but I'm not sure on the finish.

After

Looks the nuts mate and I like the tinted lights, where did you get the tint from? And I'm guessing just a normal lacquer on top? Never normally a fan of silver cars but mk5s do look spot on

Its just a way of life.

Just bought some normal tint spray off ebay for about £4.50 only just enough though. And normal laquor, the finish wasn't great to start with but I Used abit of T-cut and they turned out pretty good.

Never normally a fan of silver but i have to say.. this is looking great :happy2: Ride height looks just right i think, looking into lowering mine but wasn't sure how much by as i would be going for coilovers as and when i can spend the time and money to get some. Will keep a watch out for progress on this, looks great so far.

Silver wasn't my first choice but with the milage spec and price it was right at the time, it's just on springs at the moment but I'd recommend short adjustable drop links otherwise it doesn't feel like the anti roll bar is doing anything!

Just trying to make it look and preform the best I can with a tight budget.
