ESP/Steering light issue.
« on: July 05, 2014, 02:07:45 pm »
Hi Guys,

Annoying issue, me being me, I was tinkering around with the fuse board in the engine this morning and believe I incorrectly inserted a fuse into the wrong hole. Subsequently, I have two light illuminated on my dash, ESP and the steering wheel.

I can't for the life of me work out what I've done wrong, can any electric heads suggest anything or will it be a trip to the local garage!?

Below is a photo of my fuse board:

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Travelled 5 miles this morning and they stayed illuminated, I was under the impression they would clear too.

The lid of the cues box should list which fuses do what. A Haynes manual may hold clues too. Only other thing could be like the airbag lights, when the system detects a component not reporting a signal for whatever reason (disconnection a wire, for example) the default is to assume there's an intermittant fault and log/display it.

VCDS scan and clear.

I think the best bet would be to get a scan, anyone in Northampton able to offer a VCDS scan in return for beer?

On further investigation, I don't believe its a fuse issue but more to do with the fact I disconnected the battery.

As mentioned, they usually go off. On this occasion they haven't so I performed the generic reset (full turn left, full turn right, back to centre and drive in a straight line) although this failed to work.

I'm praying its a simple VAGOM jobby, will update accordingly.  :happy2:
