Loss of power after wash
« on: July 05, 2014, 05:36:34 pm »
I cleaned my engine bay today then dressed it, but now I've just been out again for the second time and it's still got no power. Feels like a NA engine now and there's no sound of the DV when I put my foot down. I covered the fuse box, intake etc and was careful when rising.

I've looked at the MAF plugs and fuel pump ones incase there were wet/damp but all looked fine, also pulled the coil packs out to check if the plugs weren't under water but they weren't.

Any ideas? You think it just a damp plug?  :scared:

The car idles fines to and sounds normal

Did you disconnect the battery?

I always do my bay with the pressure washer, but I make sure my engine is hot first and run the engine whilst doing it and keep it on for 5 minutes or so after, that way you don't tend to end up with water sitting where you don't want it.

Sounds like water in one of your connector plugs , maybe the one that connects to the Diverter valve?

I've been out yet again still no luck, so I've unplugged every plug I can see and sprayed the plug and sensor with wd40 incase water is sitting in there.

One things for sure I've mastered removing the stock airbox ha what a awful creation that thing is

Be careful with Wd40 as it could trap water molecules underneath and cause actual rust.

All is well now  :happy2: went out just before to try it and it had it's kick back, must of just been a damp plug.
