No goodwill for mechatronics!
« on: July 08, 2014, 09:51:04 am »
VW UK are saying as my car is a 6 speed dsg they will not give any goodwill! They say only the 7 speed dsg mechatronics is prone to failure, even though mine has failed     anyone shed some light on this because firstly I wasn't even aware there were different speed dsg box's??! It feels like they are fobbing me off! Car is 08 ed30 dsg, full VW service history 60k miles

6 speed DSG's around the 08 plate were notorious for mechatronics failures.

I had one in my Ed30 and another in my R32. Poor show by VW if there's no goodwill.

Albeit 54months ago now, VW UK fobbed me off with a similar explanation. I wasn't impressed with their response and sent a letter of complaint, along with the letter sent to US customers in the link below, and awaited their response.

They initially said that the UK/European market wasn't comparable to the US but eventually relented and, along with the dealers contribution, gave 60% 'Good will' towards the cost of replacement. As I was due a DSG service anyway, my contribution which totalled circa. £385 meant it it was a fairly reasonable result.

You could try a similar approach with the letters and make a strong emphasis on your 'Brand Loyalty'...etc.

Good luck  :happy2:
