Opinions and suggestions please
« on: July 07, 2014, 10:24:35 pm »
I've been working on designs for customising my mk5 GTI steering wheel, so far come up with this (please excuse the amateur photo editing);

Just trying to finalise it's design, can't decide between black leather around the wheel or alacantara all round (excluding red leather areas). Also, red or black (or white) stitching?

Thanks for opinions guys. If you hate it, hate away, freedom of speech and all that... :drinking:

I would swap the red and b,back around you hold where you have the red and it will get dirty plus wouldn't cover the airbag

I don't like it but it's cool in a kind of 'Star Trek' way.

Hmm, I like your thinking there, another photo edit tomorrow I reckon.

I am actually a nerd, so it's scary you say that... :fighting:

make sure its not shiny leather otherwise it will look like a ebay special. Get the fancy 12 o'clock racing line stitched in too?

See, part of me thinks maybe instead of red leather, keep the black perforated leather and replace the smooth black with alacantara and have the red strip at the top plus red stitching...

A quick 15 minute edit later and that's what I'm also thinking of. With red stitching of course...

Hmm, I kind of prefer it being a bit OTT, point of it is to stand out, but I see where you're coming from.

Be dull if we were all the same. You'll not know till it's done, give it a go and see.

What does the rest of your interior look like, very modded? This would look good with a flocked dash.

At the moment I have a cloth GTI interior, but it's getting swapped for a full leather interior, I got other bits planned like ED30 gear stick, dash surround, gloss black door/dash strips and some other bits that aren't on show.

I'd love to get a flocked dash one day so it's good you suggested that. I like your thinking... :drinking:
