Air Bag Light - 3 door 2007 Edition 30
« on: July 09, 2014, 08:46:30 am »
Hi Guys,

My Air bag light has decided to come on. I've managed to get it scanned and its stating passenger seat igniter.

Now I have had a little search around on here and people say check the connections under the seat etc..

Can anyone tell me which connections I need to check?

Is it usually just a connection when it throws this up or the igniter its self? - Anyone know where its located?

Will try and get a VCDS print out up when I can get one.

(car was scanned by local Audi Bodyshop as I had just had my sills done but they didn't give me the codes!)

Massive thanks in advance!!

Hi , the problem is usually the plug under the seat from memory a 3 wire plug (yellow as airbag related). The plug requires cutting out and the wires correctly connecting together with heat shrink connectors.  Sometimes the wiring in the seat can also get chaffed and this requires a new airbag. If the plug hasn't been cut out id do this and then erase the fault and check mvb's  to make sure  is reading correctly. Remember to disconnect the car battery before carrying out any work on the airbag system. Thanks Danny

Sorted it, the fault code related to the passenger dash airbag.

Airbag Igniter; Passenger Side (N131): Upper Limit Exceeded

Dropped the glove box and sprayed some wd on the connectors at each end.

rescanned and deleted fault.

So far so good.

If it comes back on again you can cut the block connector from each end of the cable and solder the wires together

That what I had to do on my old  mk2 fr tdi Leon

That had the same fault as yours, I cleared the fault code and it would stay off for a week or so then come back on.

In the end I just soldered the wires together and the light never came back on
