Ed30 Cold Start Hesitation
« on: July 11, 2014, 02:10:26 pm »
hi all,

got my ed30 in march this year and id say 50% of the time, when starting from cold it turns over a few times (2 to 3 seconds) before starting and is then fine, once warm if the car is started it starts on the first fire. i did read something online about the fuel pump but cant seem to find it now.

can anyone offer any advice? its not the end of the world, but id rather have it sorted before we get to winter.

for info its got a stage 1 map

How old is your battery as it sounds to me like you're not getting full cranking amperage.
Without traction power is nothing!

im not sure, but reading the 'cold start' thread, seems its a common "characteristic" of the gti/ed30...

Mine to, apparently it's because there is a fuel pump which is driven of the engine so it needs to turn over to increase the pressure in the fuel rail......or something like that. It's a common gripe on these engines

Could it be related to coil pack and ignition system ? As when it's cold , combined with low CCA of battery fails to create proper ignition to start ?
