I bought a MK4 R32 new back in the day and apart from the soundtrack, it is one of the worst buys I've ever made, I kept it a year and was pleased to see the back of it. The suspension was rock hard, the throttle was too sensitive and 1st gear might as well not be there, you need 2nd as soon as the wheels start turning. I've also had an Ed30 and I would have that everyday of the week over the MK4 R32, although I definitely missed the sound. If I was going to get another R32 (which I'm not!) I would probably get a DSG MK5. It's not as hard core, much easier to live with and the DSG gearbox is perfect for the V6 engine. All IMHO.
