I sold my 310bhp ED30 last year and still regret it to this day. Even tho I ran an M5 & stock KO3 GTI afterwards I still miss it...

If your getting an R32. Get a MK5 R32 with a good spec

Huge reduction in power and torque, plus a heavier car probably.
S4 V8 with some cans on it?  At least you're somewhere near the same power, albeit with a lot of weight.

I bought a MK4 R32 new back in the day and apart from the soundtrack, it is one of the worst buys I've ever made, I kept it a year and was pleased to see the back of it.  The suspension was rock hard, the throttle was too sensitive and 1st gear might as well not be there, you need 2nd as soon as the wheels start turning.  I've also had an Ed30 and I would have that everyday of the week over the MK4 R32, although I definitely missed the sound.  If I was going to get another R32 (which I'm not!) I would probably get a DSG MK5. It's not as hard core, much easier to live with and the DSG gearbox is perfect for the V6 engine.  All IMHO.

What about a mk3 VR6? Hear me out...

They're still a lovely sounding V6. They're cheap to buy and repair/modify. They weigh less than the mk4 R32. Here's the deal sealer... You could probably afford to keep both cars.

Moving over to Flickr, sorry for the broken picture links!

Mk4 R32 is the best looking Golf to date IMO but would I swap one for my Eddy, feck no. If I could have both.......thats a whole other story!

Is your money, you'll need to scratch that itch sooner then later.

Do you have a white stick? :signLOL:

Four reasons to move to a MKIV R32......

You cannot afford the MKV R32
Sound
AWD grip
HGP/HPA turbo upgrade

and only the last one is acceptable.

Golf R gone.

You'd be mad, I drove one when comparing to my old lcr.

The r32 felt slow compared to that so it would be horrible going from a 2.0tfsi to one.
