I went from a stage 1 golf R to a mk5 R32 a few months ago
coming from a mk5 GTI, the R just felt too safe and didn't really do it for me, and once you've heard the howl from the VR6, a 4 cylinder just don't cut it.. regardless of what exahust you're running!
The torque that the 3.2 puts out is very impressive (often sit in 6th at 30mph) and apart from the obvious drop in power, the noise, smoothness and torque from 1k revs is extremely addictive.. plus, I still average 31mpg on the journey to work, where the R managed 32/33.. not bad for the big lump that it is!
