Just bought a house so I'm considering selling the Golf to buy a sofa and a dining room table :/
I bought the car last November with intentions of keeping it for a long time as I have a van for work so don't do much driving.
Now for the bad part. The car was a cat-c write off in 2010 but allow me to stress, this was not due to accident damage, the car has no structural damage anywhere, has the original engine and all vins match up perfectly. The car was vandalised with a hammer and every panel was dented except for the roof. The car was repaired to a very high standard over 4 years ago and still stands strong today.
I am extremely anal about anything to do with cars and literally spent 3 hours at the garage inspecting every last nook and cranny for evidence of damage, even all the wishbones are original and matching. All plastic on the front of the car has original build dates which all match to within a month of each other. All panel gaps are perfect. The DVLA has something called a 'serious damage marker' this is marked if the car has received structural damage, this is unmarked on my car. All tyres wear evenly etc.

Full service history, much of it VW.
New cam belt and water pump booked tomorrow.

Last mot passed with no advisories and I took the time to chat with the tester and get his opinion of the condition of the car ( he was unable to tell the car was a cat c until I pointed it out on the log book)

Interior is in excellent condition with no wear to gear knob or steering wheel.
Car drives flawlessly with no knocks, bangs or vibration and returns a healthy 38mpg on a motorway run and 26 average when I drive short journeys.
The car currently has a RCD510 installed, ED30 rears and a cobra cat back exhaust. These will be removed prior to sale.
To summarise: it's a well specced golf with low miles that's had a respray 4 years ago. Unfortunately it has the stigmatism of the words 'cat c' on the log book. I didn't let this put me off and revelled in the saving of around £1000 (at the time). Resale value is less than that of a non cat c car, but remember you sell in the same market that you buy.
