Tyre Choice MPSS v GY Eagle F1AS2 v PS3
« on: July 14, 2014, 12:53:23 pm »
Hi Guys

Looking for some advice, blinded by tyre choice.

I drive my car (Revo Stage 1 Edition 30) about 6k miles a year, enjoy a good spirited drive regularly and plan on doing maybe 1 or 2 track days in the next 12 months.

What are peoples experiences with the above tyres? I'm leaning towards MPSS but they are a considerable amount more than the Goodyears and I keep waivering between the two because of this.

I know there are individual reviews of both tyres on here and I have read them, but anyone who has experience of both tyres, or loves the tyres they have, I would like to hear from you.

Thanks

Hootz

I can only speak for the eagles.

Good price.
Good grip.

A little bit on the soft side; didn't last as long as others but I will certainly buy them again.

oh, and the tread pattern is awesome they look epic!

I must say, I am leaning towards MPSS.

F1's can be had from Love Tyres for £83

MPSS can be had from Loves Tyres for £107 but you have to be quick when they get a delivery in, I'm inclined to wait until the beginning of August when their next delivery comes in. They're also available on My Tyres for £122, everywhere else seems pretty expensive, other than that link you just posted.

I love the eagles and i run them since i don't do track days and they're great wet or dry, but i have heard from a couple of people that they cant really match the feel and grip of the MPSS on the track.

£107!! You beat me!!  :notworthy:

I am in no rush, as new wheels have to be refurb'd yet, so could easily wait until early August

It does indeed. I'm sure more manufacturers use to have a similar tread pattern but now they have come away from it?

The Michelin rival for the Eagle is the PS3, and by all accounts the Eale is superior.

The PSS is a class above and it is not fair to rate the Goodyear against it in many ways.

Unless price is a factor I cant see why you would not get the PSS
Diamond Black Pearl Edition 30, still going strong but now back to Stg 1
